What Causes Pain Around A Blood Withdrawal Site Indicate?

I donated plasma yesterday and today when I was at work I had pain at the needle site when lifting things. There is no bruising but the vein at the spot is about 3/4 the size of a marble, hard and round. There is also a little sore. Is this a problem? Or is it something that will just go away? What causes this?

Hi.

It can be an irritated vein or Superficial Phlebitis ..
It is commonly not complicated and resolves gradually.

You can take anti inflammatory medicine like Advil or Motrin and do warm (not hot) compresses over it..

Avoid pressing or massaging over it.
In case if it worsen consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..

As of now it does not look like anything to be worried about.

Hope I have answered your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
