What Causes Pain Around A Sebaceous Cyst Removal Site?
Hi - I had 2 sebaceous cysts removed from my back about 2 weeks ago. They have been removed twice before under local anesthesia but have come back so the dr suggested to have them removed under general anesthesia. They seems to be healing just fine but yesterday, one of them started bleeding, enough to soak the back of my shirt - I ve kept them covered so they dont get irritated with my shirts. I still have pain in the area but not so much with the stitches that were used, they seem to be healing, it seems like the pain is on the inside. I went to the surgeon today to get it checked because it scared me. He said it was okay and it wasnt infected. Said that this sometimes happens, and will clear on its own within a few months. Does that sound right? I m still a little concerned so I just want to make sure of what he is saying. Can you help?
Yes, it's just a postoperative thing so no need to worry until it got infected.
The main protective fact is you have to clean the wound and do dressing daily to make it heal faster.
If the wound is infected it may show up warmth and redness over the area and due to that, you might have a fever. So until you don't have any of these symptoms you don't need to worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Indhu Priyadharshini,
