What Causes Pain Around Hip Area?

Hi my name is Sue. I have a painfull hip? I don't really think its my hip its more the tendon at the bottom of my thigh right at the base of my leg, I will go to walk and it twinges and sometimes feels like its giving way or sometimes when I walk it just hurts. nearly 3 months ago I went for a fast paced walk about 20 min. I think that is what did it.......I don't want to go to the dr in case it is my hip and thiking its bone cancer I have had 2 friends die of sore hips being bone cancer.
