Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain Around Stitches Under The Left Eyebrow?
My son had to have stitches under his left eyebrow about a month ago after his surfboard hit him in the head. He went spearfishing today and said he had to stop because he had a horrible pain in the area where he d had stitches when he attempted to descend into the water. Is this normal?
Horrible pain in the area where your son d had stitches, a month after the injury, is not normal.
This can be a sign of a local inflammation or infection.
Generally, after your son's stitches have been removed or have dissolved and his wound has fully healed, he should be able to swim in the sea or a swimming pool. He shouldn't swim if he has an open wound. Once a wound has healed, the risk of infection decreases.
My advice to you is to consult physically your son's doctor because it is necessary to check his wound carefully to see if there are other local signs of inflammation and to get medical treatment right away.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Elona Xhardo,
Endocrinologist
