What Causes Pain Around The Jaw And Left Side Of The Face?
My own doctor and several dentists have not yet figured out what is causing my symptoms, despite some invasive treatments; 4 teeth pulled, root canal. I'm otherwise healthy and active but have had "weird" sensations, altered taste and progressive pain in and around my jaw and left side of face for over 3 years. I've seen an ENT specialist and have had CT scans (a year or so ago now). I've been told all is looking normal, with some signs of Arthritis in the jaw. Could there be something else more sinister going on here, or is this a case of "suck it up, buttercup", and "get used to chronic pain"?
As per your query pain on left side of jaw and face can be due to a number of causes and if tooth related problems are excluded then it can be due to causes like nerve related pain like Trigeminal Neuralgia, Myofacial pain dysfunction Syndrome, jaw joint dysfunction etc..
Consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x Ray. And MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
