What Causes Pain Around The Navel?

My 6 year old was complaining of his stomach hurting on his belly button. I asked him what kind of pain and he said he didn t know. As the night has gone on he is saying that it feels like a stabbing pain on both sides of his stomach, but pointed to his lower right abdomen. He will say it really hurts, and then it gets better and only hurts a little, then sharp pain again. Should I be concerned?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms can be related to bloating or indigestion.

Some advice that I can give to you is:
-Take Buscopan drug for the pain.
-Avoid foods that cause gas, such vegetables in the cabbage family, dried beans, and lentils.
-Eat slowly and avoid drinking through a straw. -Use lactose-free dairy products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
