What Causes Pain Around The Navel?

My 9 year old son is experiencing abdominal pain. He says that he keeps getting a piercing pain in his stomach that swirls around his belly button. If he keeps rubbing it, the pain subsides. Could this be caused from gluten if he is allergic to it, and how would I identify if he was allergic to it?

Hello there I have read through your question and understand your concern. If he is allergic to gluten then putting him on a gluten free diet will relieve his symptoms. But other causes of abdominal pain also have to be ruled out. I would advise you to take him to a physician and get him checked. He will perform a thorough abdominal examination and may also advise an ultrasound depending on the result of the physical examination. I hope that answers your question.
