What Causes Pain At The Back Of The Skull?

I am a 55yo female, in fairly good health. I have been experiencing a dull but persistent pain in the back of my skull, behind my left ear, for the past week, at times it is very painful. I have tried massaging the area, and have taken Motrin & Aleave with no real relief. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You need to do:

1. Head CT scan
2. Blood Routine Test (including T3, T4, TSH)
3. ECG

Also, need a thorough neurological examination. Before going, please do all these tests and visit the neurologist with the results.

Also, try to note whether there any vision problem, pain behind eyes, loss of sensation in the extremities (hands, legs), pain in the neck, sleep trouble, etc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
