General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Any minor fractures could have been missed which could have been the cause of pain. Giving rest and keeping the finger immobile along with intake of pain killers can reduce the pain.Thumb splint or brace may also be considered to keep the finger immobile.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
