Hi,
Pain in the right side of neck where it meets the skull base can be due to the following reasons:
1) Muscles getting sore and not healing as this is a mobile part and the muscles of the neck get originated from this area.
2) There can be
nerve entrapment.
3) Presence of some tumor or cyst like a sebaceous cyst.
Since, this has been going on for a couple of weeks indicate that it is because of one of the reasons as I mentioned.
And can be diagnosed by the following:
1) Clinical examination by your Doctor.
2) Taking a
muscle relaxant with an anti-inflammatory medication.
3) Local application of a Rubefacient ointment.
4)
Ultrasonography of the area where there is a lump.
Pituitary gland tumor is usually not associated with such symptoms, hence not to be related to neck pain; but surely needs an MRI of the pituitary gland to know the exact position and get operated if required.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
