Hi,
In men, the urethra is a tube that runs from the bladder through the penis which carries urine from the bladder outside the body. When someone feels burning at the tip of penis which usually signs of a
sexually transmitted disease (STD) like chlamydia and gonorrhea. In case of no sexual history, it may be resulted from
urinary tract infections (UTI), inflammation of urethra or
urethritis, kidney stones, urethral structure,
prostatitis, prostatic carcinoma etc. Treatment depends on causes. Some investigations such as urine R/M/E & C/S, Urethral or prostatic swab for C/S,
cystoscopy, retrograde urethrogram, pelvic MRI, pelvic ultrasound, urinary flow test etc should be done to find out the exact underlying causes and then treat them accordingly. A course of antibiotics will be effective in case of UTI, urethritis, prostatitis or STD.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
