Hello,
Injection site reactions are usually caused by an immune response to the needle, vaccine, or other medicine. These types of reactions are typically mild and resolve in a day or two without treatment. Pain at the site of injection also occurs due to traumatic injury to the hand, or
nerve damage. It manifests as swelling or hardness under the skin.
Tightness in the index finger occurs due to nerve tenderness or injury, a
nail infection, or
arthritis. You are suggested to take
acetaminophen, one stat after food to help reduce pain, inflammation and soreness. You can take antihistamine at bedtime to help reduce allergy reactions and get relief.
However, if the symptoms persists you are advised to either visit ER for urgent care and management. Get clinically examined by a
Neurologist get required tests and investigations done and get treated at the earliest. Do not keep touching the injection site, keep your index finger at rest. Do not do any work for a couple of days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
