What Causes Pain Behind The Ears?

I have pain in the back of my head in the area behind my left ear. If I lift my left arm straight up, there is a sharp feeling of pinching that area behind my left ear. As a side issue, I was recently diagnosed with a cyst on the left side of my thyroid but it was declared benign. I don t think the cyst has anything to do with the pain I feel. I am also feeling an occasional pain in my left arm just above the elbow that I suspect is a lymph gland

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain behind the left ear may suggest infection in the middle ear. Thyroid nodule in left though it's benign may have inflammatory nodes also.

And pain radiating towards left arm may indicate under arm located lymph node swelling on left side. I think you should consult nearby physicians for better diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
