What Causes Pain Behind The Head And Sore Throat?

I had a very high fever with chills about 10 days ago. It went away after a day but left behind a horrible throbbing pain in the back of my head. Symptoms got better with Advil twice daily but have returned so that you head throbs behind my right ear when I swallow. My throat is a bit sore too. What s going on with me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

You are having acute pharyngitis as per history...
Associated acute upper respiratory tract infection can be present here...

As 10 days passed, it's better to take antibiotic course like that of cefixime drug 200 mg BD for five days

For symptomatic relief decongestant is better rather than advil.. (phenylephrine like decongestant can be prescribed)

Drink more water

Steam inhalation done three times a day

Salt water gargle beneficial

Take vitamin C tablet or lozenges

I suggest to investigate with CBC and AEC for further work up

Hope I have solved your query

Consult physician for examination and discuss all these
