What Causes Pain Behind The Leg?

I exercise regularly and am healthy. I have developed pain when running in my piriformis ( I believe ) It hurts in the back of my leg, below my butt/glutes and above my hamstrings. My hamstring was tight but has gone away. The pain lasts several days and has caused me to skip some workouts. I m wondering if there is some good stretching exercises that will help or other suggestions. Thank you. Alan

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may be musculoskeletal pain.

As of now, you can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms are severe better to consult a general surgeon and get a Doppler scan to rule out conditions like DVT.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
