What Causes Pain Below The Ribs After An Injury?

Hi, I fell a week ago and thought I fractured a rib on my left side. I went to the dr to have it checked out and was told to ice it and take ibuprofen. The last day or two I ve been having moderate to severe pain in the area just below my ribs. There is no bruise, which is strange bc I bruise very easily. Applying pressure causes the pain to increase, as does laying on the left side and certain movements. Could this be something more serious?
