Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
question, I just recovered from an asthma attack less then a week ago (I was placed on a nebulizer for it), I m still coughing a lot, now my side hurts, right below my right ribs, it hurts if I touch that area and when I cough. a friend thinks it might be an unrelated pain (he thinks gallbladder or appendix, but he just had his gallbladder removed so he might be overthinking it) but I do not have a fever, nor am I throwing up, nor do I have a loss of hunger/appetite. should I have the pain checked out by my doctor? should I wait a little longer until my coughing goes away?
Hello, welcome to health care magic. I think you are right your friend is over reacting. This is just for 7 days , particularly after asthma attack , so this type of pain on the right side at lower part in the chest underneath ribs may be due to these possibilities, these include: 1 Consolidation of lung . 2 Friction in the pleural membrane . 3 Pleural fluid However the re are so many other possibilities but try to focus above mentioned . So consult primary care physician and get his opinion as physical examination is important in such cases. Also get in an X RAY of the chest . Hope this will help you. Good luck.
