Hi there. Every time I lift my arm it hurts just below my shoulder and on my upper bicep. It feels sort heavy in a way. When I lift it out straight in front of me it hurts a little but when I lift it straight out next to me it hurt badly. What causes this and what is it?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your symptoms you should have have Rotator cuff pain(part of shoulder joint).
People who do repetitive lifting or overhead activities using the arm, are susceptible.Pain may also develop as the result of a minor injury .

Initial treatment is nonsurgical. Although this may take several weeks to months to return to normal function.
1.Rest- Your doctor may suggest rest and activity modification, such as avoiding overhead activities.
2.Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines like ibuprofen and naproxen can reduce pain and swelling.
3.Physical therapy. A physio-therapist will initially focus on restoring normal motion to your shoulder. Stretching exercises to improve range of motio are very helpful.
Once your pain is improving, your therapist can start you on a strengthening program for the rotator cuff muscles.
4.Steroid injection. If rest, medications, and physical therapy do not relieve your pain, an injection of a local anesthetic and a cortisone preparation may be helpful.
Surgical treatment is rarely needed. Visit your orthopaedic surgeon for referral.

Hope your query is solved
