Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I noticed some pain in my center-to- upper buttock. Dimple like, but a lot of pain. It almost feels as though the hole seems very deep. I think I can push in with my finger almost to my knuckle. It is discolored like a bruise. It started about 3 days ago, and has doubled in size every day
In this area, it may indicate several issues and most common are: a pilonidal cyst or perianal abscesses. These are inflammatory processes in the sacral and perianal area usually manifested with pain, redness, swelling, fever and pus discharge. Cellulitis is less common and may be present in sacral area as well. This is mostly caused by beta-hemolytic streptococcus and it necessitates antibiotic treatment with Augmentin, or combination of ciprinol+ metronidazole. You should also, apply cold compresses, take nonsteroid painkillers such as ibuprofen and rest. If there is no improvement within 2 days, you should see a doctor and have intravenous antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
