What Causes Pain During Intercourse After Taking Depo Shot?

I am worried. I have been having painful sex for almost a year now. I did have chlamydia but my boyfriend and I have been treated for that. I am wondering if that has anything to do with the depo shot. I have been in it for over a year. Please help me. I want a normal sex life with my boyfriend.

Hi.

Dyspareunia can be caused by the use of birth control pills, infections, stress, etc. So please speak to your doctor abiut retesting for chlamydia, and also checking to see if your birth control pills are causing a hormonal imbalance. In the meantime, make sure you ask your partner to indulge in sufficient amount of foreplay in order to allow adequate lubrication. You can also use lubrication available in most pharmaceutical stores called KY Jelly which is perfectly safe.
