What Causes Pain During Intercourse?
Hi, my name is Rosy from Nigeria, am 28yr am 6ft, my problem is dat wen ever an having sex i use to feel pain in side of me and am nt a virgin. i have treated my self from effection now, am still having the pains. pls help me out, bcos my husband is realy compalining about it.

I do empathize your embarrassment.
The pain in the lower abdomen during intercourse after the penile insertion is mostly due to :
1. Swelling of the uterus due to acute or chronic infection
2. Swelling of the pelvic tissues (Pelvic inflammation/infection)
The penis hurts these sore organs causing pain.
3. Deeply fallen back uterus due to which the ovaries fall back behind the uterus. This during the intercourse, hard penis presses on the ovaries causing pain in abdomen.
On clinical vaginal examination, the diagnosis can be made. The infections and inflammations can be treated by suitable antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines like NSAID. The fallen ovaries due to fallen back uterus will need surgical correction of the uterine position.
If the pain is inside the vagina - particularly burning type of pain, it is usually due to vaginal infection by fungus, Trichomona or bacteria. Fungal infection can be treated by antifungal ointment, Trichomona are cured by Metronidazole while the bacterial vaginosis is treated by antibiotics. Local Lactobacilli wash like Lactacyd is very useful. These infections are sexually transmitted; hence both the partners should take the treatment simultaneously.
Whatever the cause, please observe sexual abstinence till both of you are declared cured.
