I am a 23 year old female in a long term relationship. Almost every time my boyfriend and I have sexual intercourse it causes me pain. We have tried longer foreplay which only helped sometimes as well as lube. is there something that i could do or get that will help it hurt less?

OBGYN 's  Response
You may have tight vagina or vaginismus- the muscles of vagina go into spasm. Giving more time to foreplay helps you, so follow it. You can try to change the position to you on top or you on knees and enter vagina from back. You can also put one finger inside vagina with some lubricant and rotate the finger around vagina, gradually putting two fingers and rotating.

Sexologist Dr. Li Xiaoping's  Response
Thanks for your inquiring.
In most cases, a woman can experience painful intercourse because there is not sufficient vaginal lubrication. Normally the pain can be resolved if the female becomes more relaxed. In rare cases, the painful sex occurs because of the following reasons:

Vaginal infections, such as yeast infections.
Cervix Issues
Uterus Problems
Endometriosis
Problems with the ovaries
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
Ectopic Pregnancy
Intercourse too soon after surgery or childbirth
Sexually transmitted diseases (STD)

About 90% of intercourse-related discomfort has a physical cause, but emotions can be responsible, too. I'll still advise you to go to the hospital for check-ups if you keep facing this issue. In addition, you can take the herbal medicine Fuyan pill to relief the pain if you're diagnosed with the diseases above.
