What Causes Pain From Behind The Head Down The Shoulders?

I have alot of pain in the back of my head down my shoulders. It becomes numb and tingling at same time with awful pain. It gets very stiff and snaps when I try to move my neck. I also have severely sore muscles everywhere. It s very hard to get around especially when I wake up. My ribs are extremely sore as well. My head sticks in one place when trying to move it and at that time the pain worsens!! Would you please try to give me a idea of what s going on??? It s been going on for months just progressively get worse!!!
