What Causes Pain From The Chest To The Shoulders?

Hi,so im a 41 year old women and have been having problems with mt esophagase since my early teens but the last few months im having terrible heart burn all the way to the back of my throught and often lately anything i eat or drink gets stuck in my chest just under my rib cage. It radiates pain from center of chest up and across to my shoulders and sometimes up my neck. my father died of heart disease at age 42. does my symptoms seem more like bad heartburn or a heart issue? Seems weird the way it goes through my shoulders and shoulder blades in back for it to be heartburn. Thank u for ur time!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be a musculoskeletal pain.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
