What Causes Pain From The Hip To The Ankle?

I fell on my driveway a week ago (Sunday), on my butt. By Wednesday I began having sharp, radiating pain down the right side of my leg (especially in my hip), all the way down through my ankle. I could only walk by either being bent over with my hands on my knees, or by using a walker (from an elderly relative). A Nurse Practioner saw me on Thursday and prescribed me Tramadol. As this wasn t helping, I was then prescribed Tylenol 3 with codeine. I was told I could use these 2 together, which has helped ( I can tool along quicker with the walker) but I still can t walk upright because of the pain. With both medicines I m experiencing a lot of drowsiness and dizziness. Today I am finding it difficult to urinate. I have to bear down, as if I m trying to have a BM, just to get a long trickle. And then out of nowhere, as I ve been writing this down, I barely had time to get to a sink to throw up. Any ideas as to what s going on (I had thought it might be my sciatic nerve)? Should I try to get in to see my doctor on Monday (tomorrow) or should I make a trip to the ER today? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

It maybe neuropathic pain like sciatica.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Gabapentin for symptomatic relief. If pain persists, better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
