What Causes Pain In Arm Radiating Towards Shoulder And Wrist?

I am having SEVERE radiating right arm pain. Radiates up to shoulder down to wrist. This is the second occurance within the last 7 days. No injury. I am 51, female, smoker. Have had severe stress in past months. The pain also goes up into right side of neck. Have had strange tingle in left hand in past few months but not recently. Am tired and have no enery. I do suffer with arthrtis in left knee so bad that I can t move it after sleep. The knee pain always wakes me up. But this right arm, shoulder pain is almost unbearable!!

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Pain in the arm radiating towards shoulder and wrist in a smoker under stress could be due to cardiac origin. It could be due to 'angina pectoris'.
Kindly get the following investigations done:
1. Check your blood pressure.
2. Get an ECG done.
3. Kindly get 2D echo along with TMT for stress test.
4. Serum CK-MB and LDH levels.
Kindly consult Cardiologist for opinion and management.
In case cardia is normal, it could be due to cervical spine origin due to 'cervical spondylosis'.
Kindly get x-ray of neck done and consult Orthopedician for appropriate opinion and management.
