General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It's totally normal to feel some pain and discomfort after Implanon has been inserted. You may feel pain and discomfort when the numbing agents and sedation wear off. You may also get some swelling, bruising and inflammation by the end of the day.

The symptoms however, go away gradually within 24-48 hrs. After insertion you should be able to feel it under the skin, if not you should have a follow up clinical examination done. If the Implanon is not in the correct place or expired, it will fail to work and you may get pregnant. You are suggested to get blood, urine test done and get clinically examined by a gynecologist and get managed accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
