What Causes Pain In Back And Below The Right Shoulder Blade?

Three days ago, I started feeling pain in my back, below the right shoulder blade. Two nights ago, woke up at night with sweat dampened tee shirt. Did not sleep much that night. Last night slept from 830pm til 6am, unusual for me, but exhausted from night before. Today began slight sensation of chest pain in right side when I breathe in deeply. Pain in the back still about the same. Took a pain killer earlier, 2 baby aspirin before getting into bed, along with my Statin, Losartan, and Travatan. 61 year old male, 6 2 . 240 lbs. middle aged spread. Hot pad on back seems to help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you need to have echocardiogram and chest CT to rule out any signs of pulmonary embolism or aortic aneurysm.

Chest X-ray and EKG may also be needed. CPK and LDH to rule out any station induced myopathy should also be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
