What Causes Pain In Back And Popping Sound In Head Followed By Headaches?

My 15 year old daughter just told me that she has been having strange headaches that she feels coming on. It will begin with an ant-bite feeling on her back and backside of her arm. Then she feels and hears a massive pop on her left side of her head, followed by an excruciating headache that lasts for a second or two. A dull headache lasts for much longer. She said this has been going on for a while, but this is the first one to cause the lasting dull ache. She has no health problems to our knowledge. She has not been sick lately - her last bout of illness was last year with pneumonia and mono. Nothing recent at all. She does play in the band at school, and that is where she was today when this happened. Before this, she states that she is just doing random daily activities when these head pops hit her - nothing constant that she can put her finger on. Is this something we need to seek medical treatment for?
