What Causes Pain In Bladder And Both Sides Of Abdomen In Pregnancy?

I am 20 weeks pregnant and I my bladder hurts before urination, during and after for a while. I also get sharp pains on my sides (more so on my left than right) and especially in my abdominal area and occasionally above my belly button. Baby has been fine every check up so far. I had my gallbladder removed in 2011 and this is my first pregnancy. Just want to know if this is normal or if there should be any level of concern. Thank you.

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Your symptoms suggest urinary bladder problem ( cystitis). It needs to be investigated for presence of infection by urine test ( routine & culture, sensitivity ). followed by antibiotic/ pain relevant for bladder( like pyridium) & alkaline mixture .
Any type of urinary problem needs to be treated in time/ adequately to prevent further complications.
Consult your gynecologist for specific advice.
Thanks.
