Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding pain in both ears and jaw both sides.

As per your clinical history it appears as you are having acute otitis externa both ears because your pain is associated with-

a- Movement of jaw ( jaw moves during talking)

b- Blockade in ear .

c- Pain is involving the jaw joint.

On the basis of symptoms two other possible diagnosis comes in mind -

1- Acute otitis media both ears- this is very common in patients of acute cold and here eustachian tube dysfunction is the real site of disease. In your case this diagnosis is excluded because your ear pain is associated with jaw movement which is not found in cases of acute otitis media.

2- Acute TMJ arthritis- This is unlikely to involve jaw joint of both side and secondarily in this disease no chances of blockade in ear ,therefore it is again excluded in your case.

Even though consultation with ENT doctor for examination and necessary investigations is must here.

hope above answers your query.

Regards.

thanks for asking,
age? associated with fever? is it first attack or it happened before? any hearing loss?

well pain in the ears is most of the time associated with some problem in the nose or throat but it could be a primary cause too like wax in the ear that swells when water goes into the ear while bathing and feeling of fullness while some people have the habit of cleaning the ears with pointed objects like match stick which may cause secondary infection.
i would suggest you see an ent specialist to examine you for problems like dns, sinusitis, allergy?, problems in the throat, which may cause problems in the ear. and to advise investigations like xray pns and audiological assesment to look for any hearing loss or associated conditions.
thanks feel free to ask any queries be safe.
