What Causes Pain In Buttocks Radiating Down The Legs?
My husband has pain in his buttock and running down his leg, especially when he walks, but even sleeping at night it is painful, been going on for 3 months, he has had MRI and X-ray and there is nothing serious reported. He has had one epidural and several cortisone based shots. Nothing seems to work.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in buttocks radiating down the legs . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but in your case t seems to me that the symptoms are due to Sciatica . Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg . Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve becomes pinched, usually by a herniated disk in your spine or by an overgrowth of bone . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor will take history and order CT scan, x-ray and MRI . Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory , muscle relaxants and tricyclic antidepressants . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy or steroid injection . For now apply warm compresses to lower back , buttocks and leg and take proper rest . Also keep your legs in hot water tub with espom salt .
