What Causes Pain In Chest And Back After An Injury To Sternum?

I had a fall on the back of a theater seat directly on my sternum. The pain was intense and only began to subside in 2 weeks. The incident occurred 5 weeks ago and i can now take full breaths for the first time. I still feel some pain in my chest and my back. Is this a normal recovery for this trauma?

Thanks for your question on HCM. Yes this is normal thing. Gradually your pain will subside in 2-3 month. The cause of pain is sternal injury with injury to mediastinal pleura. So this will take atleast 2 months fof complete recovery. In my opinion you should get done chest CT to rule out other internal damage. And take simple pain killers. If you feel worsening of pain or any new symptom than consult your doctor.
