What Causes Pain In Chest And Throat After Receiving A Heimlich Maneuver?

I was choking today and a coworker had to perform the Heimlich maneuver on me- she saved my life and I m very thankful. My question is concerning some discomfort I m beginning to have and what I can expect over the next few days. My throat has started to hurt, but further down in my chest almost, and especially when I take deep breathes, is this normal? What else can I expect if anything to hurt or be painful? Should I go see my PCM?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The sore throat is normal after the food has the food has been dislocated from there. It is related to micro-trauma in that area and it may need some days to feel better. If you have difficulty in breathing you may go at the ER. If not, I suggest to drink liquids and rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
