What Causes Pain In Chest With Swelling?

I am living overseas and am suffering chest pains. I am 49, heavy 300 lbs, 6'5",. I have seen a doctor, and I have intermittent high blood pressure as high as 205/115. I have been taking high B/p medicine for a week now, and am due to see the doctor on Friday.

My pain is concentrated on the left side, and I have intermittent swelling on the front of the chest. I also have some pain in the back scapula area. The pain has been more or less continuous for 2 weeks sometimes sharp, sometimes less so.

I want to know if I am about to have a heart attack or amn I suffering from a chest muscle pull?

Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should consult cardioligist and get done ECG and 2D Echo. The points favour heart disease in you
1. High blood pressure.
2. Obesity
So your chest pain can be due to cardiac cause. I suggest you to avoid stress, avoid salt, loose weight and do regular exercise. This will help you in decreasing BP as well.
And about your swelling in chest, I think it is just a muscle pull.
So consult cardiologist and discuss these things.
