What Causes Pain In Ears Followed By Clear Light Colored Discharge?
My husband's outer ear was painful to touch the day before yesterday. He said it felt fine yesterday, then this morning said clear/light colored liquid came out of his ear. He had been in the neighbor's pool two weeks ago. Could this be from water remaining in his ear after swimming?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain ear ache along with leaking of fluid from ear are indications of ear infection and can be due to swimming causing Swimmer's Ear that is an infection in outer ear due to bacterial proliferation caused due to long term exposure to moisture..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like otoscopy, x ray etc can help in diagnosis..
He can be advised antibiotic and analgesic ear drops along with oral antibiotics and painkillers and at times manual drainage of ears along with placement of pressure equalization tubes and correction of the perforated eardrum by tympanoplasty procedure can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
