What Causes Pain In Ears, head And Throat?

Good evening, I went to the doctor Tuesday because my face( sinus areas), ears, head, and throat was hurting. She gave me a steroid and anti-biotic shot and rx-ed antibiotics too. And told me to take a decongestant. I have been blowing my nose since Tuesday. Yesterday I started hearing a squeaking sound when I blow. Tonight it got worse and painful

Give it 3-4 more days .

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Welcome to Health Care Magic.
My name is Dr Muhammad Ahmad & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way.Your problem sounds like a combination of common cold and sinusitis.

Bad news : If it's viral antibiotics don't really help.

Good news: Body in most cases develops defence against it and fights it off by itself but it takes 7-10 days to take control of infection.

Squeaking sound: There is a pathway between our respiratory tract and ear ,this is a tube called Eustachean tube which relieved off excess preesure in ear by venting it off into the respiratory tract,in many cases of cold and sinusistis in which excess secretion and mucous ,sputum is produces in nose and respiratory tract this tube may get blocked and one may hear wierd sounds like popping bubbles,or a feeling of ear blockage or sudden release of ear blockage by itself specially while doing valsalva or blowing nose, this issue subsides as your body fights off the infection and there's no more extra secretions to block this tube, valsalva maneuver often helps relieving the blockage. You can do it thrice a day if if helps.

My opinion: If i were your doctor i would have ruled out serious issues like blocked sinus or a bacterial piogenic or necrotising infection, may be a Complete blood count and an oblique X-ray skull to see if sinuses are congested. And i would have prescribed
(1) Anti-Histamin
(2)Mucolytic
(3) Antibiotic
(4) Pain killer
(5)decongestant.
steam inhalation also help you clear up your respiratory tract.

Here i would suggest you to wait for 2-3 more days and see if you get improvement or not, and the revisit the doctor and discuss with him other options of treatment .But as i already told you most patients get better in 7-10 days.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
