For about three months now I have been experiencing an increasing irritation in my left upper eyelid accompanied by a periodic sharp stabbing pain, the frequency of which has been increasing until it has become almost constant. The eyelid does not appear red or inflamed either on the surface or underside. The sharp stabbing pain occurred only two or three times a day when I first noticed it. My opthamologist looked at it one week ago but couldn t see anything wrong so dismissed it, but it is becoming almost constant and unbearable. It is causing my eye to start to become sensitive to light. Over the last fifteen years, I have had two cataract surgeries, a vitrectomy and about a month ago I had surgery to repair a hole in the retina of my left eye, followed be the 10 day facedown recovery period. My eye does not seem sore, only the eyelid which twitches frequently. I wondered if the eyelid was becoming irritated by the three types of drops I was using twice a day: except that this irritated eyelid started occurring long before I started using the drops. What are your thoughts concerning this problem?
You should report to eye center where you were operated.Twitching is due to nuro logical irritation. they are not related to drops. The check up and advise by eye center will be best and final.
