when i pull my upper lid it is very painful. Also, the base of my eyelids hurt and are sore. There are no visible bumps or redness. The only thing that helps is artificial tears as I also have dry eyes.It sometimes feels as if I have something under the upper lid.I have very recently had a complete eye exam by an eye doctor at my local hospital. What could be wrong? Hello
It seems from the history that you are having pain in the eyelids.
This can occur in inflammatory condition affecting the glands of the eyelids.
Since you are not having bumps or redness of eyelids this can be because of referred pain from inflammation of surrounding structures like blepharoconjunctivitis or keratitis caused by dry eye.
The treatment is by treatment of underlying dry eye.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
