What Causes Pain In Fibularis Longus On Walking Or Squatting?

I was recently diagnosed with avascular necrosis in a knee joint. That seems to have healed. I still have somewhat weak quads. I am finding pretty sharp pain in what seems to be my fibularis longus when doing any walking or attempting a squat. Any ideas?
