What Causes Pain In Groin Area While Being Diagnosed With Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Hello, A few weeks ago I had a vaginal yeast infection, which I was given an antibiotic and pain medicine. I read once I have my menstrual that the inflection would subside. Since that time I am still experiencing pain in my goin area as before and I am making a follow up appt. tomorrow to see if the problem still present. I am 53 year old African American woman in relatively good health. This is the second infection I have had in 15 years. My question is do you think this infection still present?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Yeast infection in vagina typically has itching as a primary symptom. This is followed by white discharge.So the pain in groin during menses can not be take3n as yeast infection sign...it's a menstrual symptom( which you had before too).
Yest infection is very difficult to go.. it has tremendous rate of recurrence, with the same symptoms itching & white discharge.
It's a myth that yeast infection is cured with menstrual flow. No, on the other hand, fungus( if not completely removed) grows /flurishes in menstrual blood.
* So
- The groin pain is not a sign of yeast infection & if you had recent yeast infection, it's advised to use Flucanozole vaginal pessary during periods , to prevent it's recurrence./ repeated courses of oral medicines are needful to drive the fungus out of system..
- similarly a course of medicines is given to both sex partners at the same time.
Thanks.
Thanks.
