What Causes Pain In Hip When Diagnosed With Dermoid Cyst?
I have a mature Dermoid cyst on my right ovary (approx4-5cm). I feel no pain or pressure in the abdomen region but I do have pain on my right hip flexor area. Is this related to my cyst or is it more likely related to exercise ( I run 2-3 miles frequently and do tennis and Pilates).
I can understand your concern. The cyst that is benign and not infected does not cause pain or discomfort unless it is too big in size. If the cause of pain was dermoid cyst, you might be feeling pain in ovary area. The hip pain seems to be muscular in origin. It might be possible that you have hurt the muscle while exercising without your knowledge.
If it is causing too much discomfort, you can take muscle relaxant medicine like Paracetamol 500 mg + Diclofenac Sodium 50 mg + Chlorzoxazone 250 mg (Dan MR) twice a day for five day. You can do heat compression and can also use Dicolfenac topical gel (Volini) to the area.
If you do not feel better in 5 days or if pain worsens, a physical examination of the area by a physician is advised.
