What Causes Pain In Knee While Bending It?

I am 18, 115 pounds, and 5'4". I have just recently had this pain occur in my right knee everytime i go to bend down. its on the outer front side of my knee right next to my knee cap and it hurts almost like it needs to pop. what could be wrong and what should i do?
