Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for the safety of Simvastatin.
Indeed, Simvastatin has been found to be effective in reducing the high cholesterol level and thus prevent the heart disease due to deposition of fat in the blood vessels of the heart and elsewhere.
One of the common side effects of Simvastatin is myopathy (muscle injury) which results in myalgia (muscle pains) and sometimes breakdown of muscle proteins to the extent of causing kidney problem.
It appears that you have muscle pains due to Simvastatin, so you are advised to consult your treating doctor for an alternate but safer drugs like Acipomox or Cholestyramine to reduce the high cholesterol level without causing myopathy.

Hope this answers your query.
A feed back is appreciated.
