What Causes Pain In Left Side On Touching Base Of Finger?

I have a spot at the base of my middle finger and my hand that when I touch it shoots a burning pain all the way up my left side. It hurts if I try to straighten my fingers to stretch them or if I do anything with that hand that involves touching that area near the base of my finger where it joins my hands.the other fingers are ok
