Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Experiencing moderate stinging pain from butt to foot. Not restricting my movement. At first I thought it was planter fasitis which I have had before. No shooting pain. Sometimes worse when sitting. I am on my feet at work a lot. Wearing good supportive shoes.
You have not mentioned whether the pain is on both sides or one side.
Sciatica is a nerve-related pain that occurs due to irritation, pressure on the sciatic nerve. Pressure on the nerve could be due to disc bulge in the lower spine.
Sciatica pain usually occurs on one side of the body from the lower back to the sides of leg.
Lower backache due to vertebral disc problems can cause pain either on one side or both sides. Pain while sitting down is also observed.
X rays yield very less information. Hence I suggest you take an MRI spine to rule out any disc pathology.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
