What Causes Pain In Limbs While Treating Stage-3 Breast Cancer?

Hello, I have finished treatment for stage 3 breast cancer (age 45) with chemo & Radiation in May 2014. I have had a complete hysterectomy October 2014. My oncologist had me taking Fumera,, and I have pain in joints. Wanting to switch to another estrogen blocker as my cancer was estrogen positive. Exemestane is next to try. I have found that I have an allergy (swelling hives) to Poleyethonol glycogen and it is used in both of these medications. Is it possible to fine a pharmacist to make this in a liquid or something with out the PEG? MY BLOOD WORK SHOWS ELEVETED alkaline phosphates, at 152 IU/L. this could explain the pain I have in hands and feet. any ideas of what could possibly help with the pain. I also experience GAD when taking the estrogen blockers. Thank you for you time, Jeni S

Hi,

It is possible to find a compounding pharmacist who can make a liquid form of the medication without PEG, but you should discuss this with your oncologist first. They may have alternative medications or treatments to recommend.

As for the pain in your limbs, it could be related to the elevated alkaline phosphates, which can be a sign of bone disease or liver problems. Your oncologist may want to perform additional tests to determine the cause of the elevated levels and the pain you are experiencing.

Additionally, they may be able to prescribe medications or recommend other treatments to help manage your pain. It's important to discuss all of your symptoms and concerns with your healthcare team so they can provide the best possible care for you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
