What Causes Pain In Lower Abdomen And Groin?

Started getting a pain in the lower abdomen several hours after playing a sport during the early evening. Caused discomfort during the night, thought it was constipation. Then in the morning, after I had eaten, the pain was still there which I thought was very unusual. I believe it to be some kind of hernia as I have occasional pains in my groin and thigh area. Second night is much more painful to sleep. Any suggestions on what to do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per your description the possibilities are small inguinal hernia or ureteric calculus (stone). As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan to make a diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
