Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Lower Abdomen Radiating Towards Pelvic Area And Belly Button?
I have been having severe pain in my lower abdomen that radiates down to my pelvic area and clear across my belly button. I have some pain up towards my ribs. If I push on the area it feels better until I release. Sometimes the pain is so bad I am doubled over in pain. It doesn t happen all the time though.
Your symptoms of pain in the lower abdomen on and off with radiation to pelvis is seen in the following causes: 1) Urinary or kidney calculus or stones 2) Inflammatory bowel disease 3) Gastric irritation 4) Appendicitis 5) Ulcerative colitis 6) Gall stones 7) Urinary infections 8) Pelvic inflammatory disease in females
Ultrasound abdomen and pelvis would help to specify the actual root cause behind the pain and helps in appropriate management. A detailed history and a thorough physical examination are necessary to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. I would recommend you to consult a general physician or surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
