What Causes Pain In Lower Back And Leg When Suffering From Severe Endometriosis?
I have severe endometriosis which I had diagnosed about 10 years ago. My bowel is stuck to my uterus and pretty much everything is stuck together. I am getting increasingly bad symptoms but don t want to go through major surgery if not absolutely necessary. My symtoms are terrible periods, pains throughout the month, lower back pain, rectal pain, pain down leg and general tiredness. My gyne said the only thing he can do is a hyster and a bowel resection. what do you think?
Hi, I have gone through your problem. You are suffering from severe (grade IV) endometriosis. The pain in endometriosis is due to the endometriotic tissue which infiltrates the ligaments and peritoneum (the lining of the abdomen) and the chemicals it produces. Since you have mentioned that you was diagnosed 10 years ago, I presume that your doctor might have tried all forms of medical management (progestins, GnRh analogues, anti-inflammatory drugs etc) possible to treat the pain due to endometriosis. He is right in suggesting to undergo major surgery of hysterectomy and bowel resection to get relief, though surgery also is not 100% curable in some cases, in which some endometriotic tissue, which is not visible by naked eye, is left behind. I would suggest you to undergo surgery to improve your lifestyle. Hope you found this answer helpful. Wishig you good health.
